2019 PGA Championship Rundown

We just had an outstanding Masters with Tiger winning it. Now we have the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Long Island. The 2019 Majors are going to all be bananas. This weekend we have the 2nd Major of the year and it has the making of a heavyweight slugfest.

For those unfamiliar with this course, here are a few things to keep an eye on when watching the PGA Championship this weekend:

1) Course length and moderate undulation: It plays 7,454 yards, and if you hit it in the fairway, a level lie is not a guarantee. It also isn't a guarantee if you land it in the fairway that it will stay there. The slope is an issue, and a great tee shot can run off into that thick ass rough. Slope is 152 and Rating is 78, not easy.

2) Thick ass rough: If you cant hit the fairway, this course will make you contemplate why you even play golf. This is why they have the warning sign on the first tee. It gets incredibly long if you are playing from the tall grass. The rough is so thick and tall, that it will violently close your clubface at impact and cause you to hook your shots if you are not proficient with playing from thick rough. If you are very errant with your shots, you will be in the fescue, and chances are you won't find it. Accuracy is going to be very important this week.

3) Bunkers: There are 78 big and bad bunkers on this course. They are also positioned in very strategic spots that result in very challenging shots. You will have high bunker faces, big lips, tall fescue on the mounds of the bunkers which make flag vision/visibility and alignment difficult. All bunker shots are a big test on this course.

I am a huge fan of Bethpage. The whole facility is incredible in my humble opinion. For those of you that do not know, Bethpage has five courses; Black, Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. I have played them all. They are all immaculately maintained. There is a lot of golf history on those grounds, and it is a very special place for golfers. If you haven't had a chance to play these courses, it is worth the trip.

Odds to win this week:

Dustin Johnson 10-1

Tiger Woods, Brooks Keopka, Rory McIlroy 11-1

Justin Rose 20-1

This will be a heavyweight battle on a heavyweight course. Fired up for this one.
